Seems

It truly seems like a hallucination - daffodils and tulips and bluebells behind the sleet. I'm not sure whether I'm hallucinating the flowers, or the sleet. I fear for the tulips, they are almost horizontal.

Thaw

During the night when the snow melts and drips, it sounds like a big, gentle animal in the garden adjusting its paws and licking them occasionally.

Rosy and not rosy

I'm sorry if you got a Kindle for Christmas and wanted perhaps to download The State of Me - the e-book is still not showing on Amazon - or Book Depository (this is not rosy!). On a happier note, I got a collection of Norman MacCaig poems as a gift, loving it, there is a poem about a toad that you just want to read again and again ('Stop looking like a purse...' ). And everyone should drink this, my new favourite tea: black with a hint of rose. I can also tell you that the best fairy cakes are made when you are on codeine (you simply don't care about the oven/timing, the whisking does not seem so exhausting and all is dandy). And the thaw is still on (this is rosy!). I would love if the snow melted to reveal all the spring flowers in bloom, a real Wizard of Oz moment. Needless to say, Happy and Healthy New Year, when it comes, to all who read this blog.

Three

I have on three pairs of socks and my feet are still like ice. I can't heat up. It's an M.E thing. The heating is cranked up. I am so tempted to cut the fingers off my gloves but that would just be silly. Be gone, Arctic weather front!

A week

What a week, physio on Tue and eye hosp yesterday. And more snow. I really hate the snow by now. I want to shoot it or injure it in some way. I hope this weekend to finish reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog. It is pretentious as hell, but I am loving it. I am reading it in English, a bit too tricky for me in French. (I can read Amélie Nothomb in French, that makes me happy.) I learned that, for weeks, I have been doing a piriformis stretch which is too aggressive, I hope I have not made my back worse. My ankle has been numb for ten days, like it's been to the dentist and the injection is wearing off - I have never had anything like this before. And I am sick of NSAIDs and codeine. But my eyes are calm, well, kind of calm, not entirely calm, but calm enough and I continue to taper the drops.

Snow

We have snow, not quite Miss Smilla, but a nice covering.
