Trying to formulate a comment here is very difficult, NMJ, for anything I can say is trivial in the face of all the suffering and slaughter - but I think an election win weighs heavily on the hoping-to-achieve scales. I doubt that those making the decision to bomb Gaza really believe a stop to the rocket fire can be achieved this way - assuming of course they stop short of wiping out the entire Palestinian nation (which some might very well prefer to a peaceful solution). One needs to be no political analyst or rocket scientist (yes, pardon the horrible pun here) to realise that from the hatred this latest attack has created, more rocket fire, suicide bombings, and so on will be born, which they'll be equally unable to stop. And so it goes on, and I suppose whoever is in power (or in opposition) can forever use it to keep/get themselves in/to government.

It's horrible, it's unspeakable...

thanks, janelle, the fairy cakes are just now in the oven but i think the organic flour and sugar has fucked them up - the mixture felt too heavy x

hey anna, i used that very same pun over at yours, great minds...

it is hard to know how to respond, the horror goes on in spite of international outrage... you just have to distract yourself, and that is what i am doing, i don't have energy to cry anymore.

happy new year both when it comes in your respective countries.x

A friend of mine is going to Israel (on business) on the 14th of January. I had lunch with him today, and while we were out his wife rang him, all worried and claiming she'd never forgive him if he died (she'd probably read some announcement from the government suggesting people leave off traveling there). He spoke with the blackest humourous tone about "the Armageddon having begun". Which worries me a little, for the word ver here now is undend...

(PS I can probably eat my body weight, which is not inconsiderable, in fairy cakes. Just saying, NMJ.)

xx
