MP's review of 'The State of Me'

... I am thrilled to see John Barrett MP mention The State of Me on his blog (date of post May 3, 2009). I emailed John about my book a few weeks ago and he very kindly went out and got himself a copy. I love his comparison to The West Wing: 'takes a little time to get into, but then you get hooked'!

Good news about John Barrett's mentioning your novel. Actually more than a mention. I can't imagine the American equivalent of your MP having such a blog and reading a constituent's novel with such sensitivity. Cheers!

Hey Mim, Yes, I am very pleased that an MP has read and enjoyed the book. This was exactly my goal - that people would enjoy the fiction element but learn about the illness too. The fight for recognition of M.E, and biomedical research goes on, the more people who are aware the better.

Personally, I look forward to the day when it's legally mandated that all hinges of any sort are constructed of adamantine (er, assuming that it exists outside of fiction...). I recently broke the hinges on a brand new beer cooler the first time I opened it to get a beer. I was not amused but, somewhat strangely, I soon forgot about it...
Good news about the book, though!

hey rick, i had to look up adamantine... i have learned something! it is just so desolate when i open the fridge now, i almost feel sorry for the cheese - it looks almost homeless - without the charming plastic cover over its head.
