Dr Sarah Myhill

I am baffled at what is happening to Dr Sarah Myhill, I came across the insanity on Greenwords' blog. I have never personally been treated by Dr Myhill but my understanding is she is a fairy godmother when it comes to treating ME - so why the hell is the GMC pursuing her like this? Why harass a doctor who is only doing good? Just another part of the sinister jigsaw, no doubt. I am not able to absorb all the details of the story at moment, but there is a shorter link here.

On a happier note, many congratulations to Eric Smart, a former ME sufferer, who has just cycled a crazy number of miles and raised almost £12 000 pounds for the ME Association in the process. His blog is Aberdeen2Adelaide. I'm so glad he has returned to a Scotland with sun, at least for the time being. Normally when you come home from abroad it is pissing it down.

Thank you so much for blogging about Dr Myhill.

And as for Eric Smart, that is an incredible thing to do!

Happy to, Greenwords, it all seems quite Orwellian.

I've been treated by Dr M. and my own GP's reaction to her reports was very scathing and it was impossible to get my GP to follow through on any of her recommendations.

In the end, although she is a fully qualified doctor in the usual sense, she does have some unusual ideas ( at least, seen as unusual by traditional medicine) and the medical profession is very traditional and close-minded in my experience.

I think they simply don't like her rocking the boat or being so resepcted by so many PWME because she threatens so much of what they understand.

hey cusp, you are probably right.

the therapies that have helped me during horrible times - intravenous vitamin C/magnesium and ACTH injections (not at same time) would no doubt never have been approved by 'traditional' GPs...

but if dr myhill is not causing any harm, and in fact helping those with ME, what is the problem? ...obviously, the GMC has to follow up any complaint, i do understand that, but i also see she has been pursued, pointlessly, before... but why aren't they pursuing the psychiatrists who are causing REAL harm?!

i must add that i was also prescribed germanium powder capsules by the private vit C doctor and later i had to have liver function tests as germanium is know to be dodgy, so i guess doctors *do* need to be checked up on if there are concerns, i am just not sure what the concerns over dr myhill are...

No I'm not really sure either. Could NOT get my GP to agree to Vit B injections or anything else recommended by Dr M.

I honestly think the upset is because she is traditionally qualified doctor who is prepared to look 'outside the box' and the medical profession really don't like that from one of their own. Interesting too that one of the people who complained about her and suggested that her advice was harming PWME decided to remain anonymous - cowardly I reckon and slippery too. The psych. brigade have enormous power -- more than we realise I think. After all docs., psychs., all medically qualified and under same banner in a way.

I have to say that since my GP wouldn't help me re. Dr M's advice I then tried to follow her recommendations (which were numerous) as best I could -- e.g. diet, supplements etc. etc. and it really made little or no difference at all for me. However, there are people who swear by her.

For me, in my situation, a lot of her advice is simply impractical. It may be fine if you have no other responsibilities to anyone else but if you do then it is v. v. hard to follow what she says.
