Scrambled
I had no butter and made scrambled eggs with olive oil instead, horrible. Surprised I can even taste as I still have sinus headache, it is literally doing my head in. I have a high pain threshold, but enough is enough.
I have a friend who always makes them that way and insists its delicious! Ugh is all I can say. I like butter...REAL butter, not the slimey substitutes.
Sinus: have you tried nasal wash? It helps me, releases sinus ache. A simple saline spray. Bought it at Walgreen's in the States. Let me get the stuff--
OK: "Simply Saline." "Sterile saline nasal mist." Made by Blairex Labs, Inc., Columbus, IN.
Butter should be butter, none of this namby pamby easy spread stuff.
I often have sinus headaches, triggered by over zealous use of mothballs - now banned - ten years ago. My clothes were being munched by tiny wee bastard pine coloured moths, so I threw the white napthalene pellets everywhere & consequently lost my sense of smell/taste for a good while. Thankfully, it came back.
It's usually allergic inflammation but I had a cold last month & I think that has caused infection but I hate taking antibiotics but feel I need them now. And the eyedrops don't help, they can also cause sinusitis but I can't quit them yet.
So yes I have been hugely fed up, the pain is not good.
Mim, Funnily enough, I tried a sinus rinse - NeilMeds from USA- - for the first time yesterday & felt like I had a whole swimming pool in my head, it was a bit scary but I may try again. Hell of a palaver with wee bottles and sterilising everything though.
I have a medieval suggestion for you. Try eucalyptus drops/Vicks in boiling water and do the good ole tea towel over your head thing. Inhale all the vapour you can then blow vigorously. It's a cheap facial if nothing else. Oh, and tip: if you must do eggs and olive oil, fry them instead. Even Italians use butter for scrambled.
M, Don't, they are horrible with olive oil, honestly...
Cusp, Thanks for the pipe, but the rinse has saline and bicarb soda so prob the same effect.
V, I have done the eucalytpus steam a thousand times, & often use eucalyptus oil in the shower, my flat smells like an aromatherapy clinic. Glad they use butter in Italy too!
Sorry, no advice for sinuses--hope you're feeling better by the time you read this. As for the scrambled eggs: a good no-stick pan should let you cook them in a minute or two with constant stirring. I usually only use "grease" for sunnyside or over-easy (even in a no-stick). If I'm hungover, I'll cook any style eggs in the grease from my fried bacon. That kind of decadence on a daily level will kill you though... ;-)

How do the Scots wash their nostrils?
Hope the headache soon passes, it sounds like a real so-and-so.
The previous post, Leaves and Kids, was really lovely, btw.
Thanks, all, you are kind.

Sorry to hear it, I mean the headache. Hmm, scrambled eggs with olive oil - I'm gonna have to try it.
I have another blogging chum (who coincidentally also has M.E.) who suffers from sinus probs and now swears by a salt pipe ...very simple.

Thanks, Rick. I have not tried without butter, I just assumed they would burn...
