Years ago, I marked down these words of Martin Amis: '... the writer is the opposite of the suicide, constantly applauding life and, furthermore, creating it, assigning breath and pulse to a non-existent progeny.'
I cannot recall where the quote comes from, perhaps his memoir Experience?
I would really like to know the source, if anyone has an idea please let me know. Thank you!
